Phase I Designer
Assesses the skills and capabilities of a person who has minimal
on-the-job experience, perhaps as little as one to four years.
Includes a four-hour written test consisting of multiple choice and
True
/ False questions in the sections of: Drafting, Descriptive Geometry,
Geometric
Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Plastics, Metals, and
Terminology.
Test fee is $150.00
You will be given up to two years to retake the section(s) of the Phase
I Designer that you have not passed during any dates the test is
offered without an additional fee.
Phase II Designer
Assesses the skills and capabilities of a person who has more
on-the-job experience, between two and twelve years of experience.
Includes a four-hour written test consisting of multiple choice and
True
/ False questions in the sections of: Body, Chassis, Design for
Manufacture
/ Design for Assembly (DFM / DFA), Dimensional Management, Interiors,
Materials,
Terminology, and Vehicle Development Process (VDP).
Test fee is $150.00
You will be given up to two years to retake the section(s) of the Phase
II Designer that you have not passed during any dates the test if
offered without an additional fee.
CAE Vehicle Analysis Engineer
The CAE Vehicle Analysis Engineer certification is a two section
web-based test:
1. FEA, Statics & Dynamics - a three-hour test consisting of
multiple
choice and True / False questons in statics, dynamics, strength of
materials,
FE modeling and analysis, NASTRAN, HyperMesh, and general analysis.
2. Two functional specific subject areas you choose from the following:
Aero / Thermal, Crash Safety, Durability, Manufacturing CAE, Noise /
Vibration,
Optimization, Robust Design, or Vehicle Dynamics. Each subject
area
test is one half-hour long.
Test fee: $255.00 for the entire exam: FEA, Statics & Dynamics,
plus
two functional specific sub-sections. A $50 charge for each
additional
sub-section you choose to further your certification.
